Only 9 days left and counting (who’s counting anyway!)

Although there’s not much snow on the ground (I don’t really count the dirt piles on the road as snow) it’s starting to feel a little like Christmas. A few people at work have already made the trek back for Christmas. As I won’t be heading home this year for the first time in my life, I sent some gifts back home with a co-worker today that will be hand delivered on Friday. There’s only 3 more working days left! I’ll be working the Wednesday after Christmas, Thursday will be pack day, and then on Friday I take off early!

My parents also sent me a nice package that came back with another co-worker who was in Brandon for a few days. Included in this package was a meat pie (it’s been a while since I’ve had one), some Soduku books for the trip and some dainties. Now get this. I cut some up at work and asked if anybody would like any dainties. A few people kind of looked at me weird and asked what the hell “dainties” are? Seriously? I thought that was a word people used? Asking around the office, not a one person from Calgary knew what they were. NONE. Only the Manitoban’s did.

Is this a Manitoba thing? Some people thought it may even be a Ukranian thing!

What didn’t come in my package was some nuts of bolts from Deb the next door neighbour back home. Out of everything, I was looking forward to that the most. I know you’re reading this Deb…I’m disappointed…very disappointed. I leave the province and I can’t even get a simple pleasure in life anymore!

I go for my final Hep shots tomorrow. I sent in the previous shots to my benefits company and guess what..got squat back. Apparently its not covered. I even asked the benefits people at work and they didn’t think it was either. Oh well. At least the extra medical insurance only cost me $42.

I’m such a cheap ass.

Merry Christmas Matt. I thought ‘dainties’ was an english word and all english people in Canada knew what it meant. I guess we still have things to learn.
Have a great trip! Enjoy yourself ans spend that money of yours.
