Did you know the United States has a coin for $1? Did you know this coin is currently in circulation? I didn’t either. Apparently they’ve been around since 2000, however American’s don’t like them so they are used rarely in daily transactions.

So that was my surprise when I put $5 into the transit ticket machine and it gave me back coins in change. I was a little confused as I had no clue they had adopted a “loonie”. Everywhere I had been the last couple of days still were using the normal $1 bills. Turns out, most of the US just use it for postal and transit change dispenser machines.
Ah…remember those days? Yes I was only 8 in 1989 but I still remember the $1 bill!

I knew all about them and actually have a few. You will be very lucky to come across one with the “Indian Lady” on it. Rare…just though I would share.
