History

It was good to finally get back to Gull Lake for the long weekend. As last year I had just arrived in Calgary I had to skip out on the annual festivities.

The year off did me well. Not only did I regain the horseshoe championship (with of course Sandra’s help) I also won the cribbage championship (for the first time I think…maybe 2nd). I probably won’t be invited back next year as the dominance was maybe too much for everybody.

Total winnings $37.

I also flew into Winnipeg this time. I don’t know if I’ll ever make the drive again by myself. Flying is so much easier. Especially now that I actually have somebody to drive me to the airport at 5:30 am (thanks Dee…are we good for 4:30 am in December?)

Took some pictures too of the destruction that happened as the result of the tornado that went through the area on August long weekend. The image on the below is a satellite picture of the road you turn into to head to the cabin. As you can see there’s plenty of trees to the left and ahead of you when you drive down the road. Basically you couldn’t see the lake right when you turned in

Now this is the view as you drive down that road. Notice you can see the lake from this path

On that road if you look to your right you’ll see this now

Pretty crazy. It obviously was cleaned up and the scene only a couple of weeks ago would’ve been even more dramatic.

There’s more pictures of the long weekend in the gallery.

  1. Sure Matty! I’m good for 4:30 am in December. By the way, I take personal cheque, cash or return favours. Next time you’re over and T has made her orange soup specialty - it’s all yours big brotha!

Good to see you have a great trip. You were pretty hung the afternoon we picked you up and weren’t saying too much.

I hope your week of work hasn’t been too brutal and MNP isn’t working you to the bone like they so love to do. Ahh, just thinking about that makes me love baby T so much!

Take care - come by for dinner sometime bro!

To think you take all the glory for your crib winnings…I absolutely believe I should recieve some sort of commission for the level of experience you have gained which has taken to this “pro” status!
I was a little disappointed I never heard from you when you were out!
I enjoy keeping updated on the world according to “the super duper programmer”.
    Take care…
