I’m sure many people aren’t aware of this, but there’s a slight problem with the way the whole airline booking system works. And I found out first hand what it is.

If a flight has a departure city and a destination city, the final landing stop for the plane is the destination city. What they don’t tell you is how many stops it takes to get there. I received my iteneray after I booked my flight and noticed that I was stopping in Japan for a few hours before heading down to Taipei. Confused, I called up the travel place where I booked my tickets. The girl on the phone indicated that it was a flaw in the system and that if you don’t depart the plane, it may not show up in the original schedule.

Exquese me?

She offered to cancel my tickets at no charge, but I declined as that flight was about the cheapest you could get (remember, I’m still Ukranian!). So from San Francisco, I fly to Japan for another 2 hour layover! Since I’m on the same plane, I may or may not even leave the plane when we land. That sounds like fun…sit your ass on a plane for 2 hours…and you’re don’t even go anywhere! I’m hoping the Japan airport is like Calgary, where I could at least disembark the plane and walk around the airport for a few hours and then get back on without going through security. I’m highly doubting that though as I’m just using Japan has a hop and not actually staying there.

This is going to be one of the longest trips in my life - but of course worth every minute.

Hey at least now I can say I’ve been to Japan!

    Hey Matt,
Thought I’d check in and see what you’ve been up to lately - lots by the looks of it! I can also say I’ve been to Japan, although all I saw of it was the airport and the hotel right by the airport, but hey, we can say it! Glad to hear everything’s going so good for you!
