This past Thursday I came home to a letter from the Condo people indicating that parking restrictions will now come into effect on our street in the next couple of weeks. Basically because we live so close to the train station, during the week, the station parking lot immediately becomes full by 8 am and people “overflow” onto our street.
There lies your problem: People who live in the condo complexes can’t park on the street during the week as it’s being used by station parking. So the City of Calgary has decided that you need to have a parking pass in order to park on our street…cool.
Actually..not cool. If you want a parking pass, the city is making us purchase a parking pass for $25 a year, and you’re only allowed one per apartment. Granted you don’t have to buy a parking pass, but what if during the year at some point you have guests over and all the visitor parking is full? You’re S.O.L.
$25 x ~500 owners = more $$$ to spend for Calgary
Oh and if you’re wondering, I will probably fork over the $25 just for those make believe visits from guests out of town that never happen!
