Headed back home over the holidays. This time though instead of flying, I drove the 1100 Km back east, with a couple of guys originally from Brandon, now living in Calgary. We left about 4 pm from downtown and made it back just after 3 am.

This was the first time doing the drive back and all in all it was pretty easy. With 3 people in the car gas was super cheap - only costing me about $30 total, plus I didn’t have to drive the 10+ hours all by myself.

Everytime I go back, I miss it less and less. I mean don’t get me wrong, seeing friends is a good thing, but Alberta and Calgary have so much going for it, going back to Hickville Manitoba seems like a downgrade. Kind of sounds like I’m never going to move back!

We headed into Winnipeg on Saturday afternoon where we spent Christmas eve in St. Pierre. Christmas day was spent just outside of Winnipeg at Lisa and Joel’s house. It was good to see everybody again, some of which I hadn’t seen since July.

After Christmas, we headed back to Brandon on boxing day. To not really my surprise, there was nothign really to do! I headed into the MNP office for a bit to catch up on some email as well as visit with some old co-workers. But after that I would sit at the parents house and watch Oprah!

Things finally turned a better when I met some old friends from St. A days! It’s amazing how each of us have taken different paths in life. In this day and age too, it’s really easy to stay in contact with email and IM.

Thursday night I headed out to Houstons with some good friends. Saw some old friends I haven’t seen in a while, drank and all was merry.

For new year’s I headed out to Kevin and Terra’s farm in Salsgirth (sp?), Manitoba. Of course this is a farm so it’s in the middle of nowhere. I got lost heading up there, but eventually found my way. Not having been on a farm in a long time (or maybe never…probably never), it was an eye opener just to see all that’s involved. On Saturday morning we headed out to do chores which involved feeding a couple hundred cattle. (And yes it does stink like shit).

All in all though, my time back home was enjoyable. With no definate plans on heading back anytime soon, I plan on sticking it through my first Calgary winter! Well so far the +12° days I’m enjoying immensely. Now I just need some guests to come here once in a while. *cough* Stampede *cough*

So for the second year in a row, Canada juniors have won gold! All in all it was once again an easy tournament with no real competition.
Ah…this brings back memories of last years juniors in North Dakota, where we again beat the Russian’s soundly. Too bad we couldn’t have made it out to Vancouver this year!

BTW, Pierre McGuire still sucks

I just upgraded the wordpress backend to version 2.0. If anybody notices anything weird, let me know.
