Another weekend…
This past weekend was Thanksgiving.
So this year was a little bit different then most. As I’ve been to all my life, thanksgiving as a kid we would travel in to Winnipeg to see family and as life went on, we would stay around Brandon, but still with family. This year felt a little weird. My parents flew into town on Friday morning to spend the weekend in Cowtown to visit attractions and so that I could get a nice turkey dinner!
Friday we rode the C-Train downtown for lunch. (It’s a tourist thing - like any other day for me). We ate at A Touch of Ginger which is a kick-ass Vietnamese noode bowl restaurant. They enjoyed that and for the afternoon we went shopping for the rest of my kitchen chairs and few various assorted items. First was too Ikea and then to Superstore for the groceries for Sunday’s meal.
Saturday we headed off to Banff to ride the Gondola up the mountain (I forget which exact mountain). As a kid we have driven through Banff, I believe just stopping to camp for the night. Driving through the mountains now was kind of surreal. I still have my Manitoba license plates so I definately looked like a tourist zig-zagging on the highway as we stared at the scenery. For the 3 of us it costs $16 just to get in the park and then another $22 each to ride the Gondola.
At the top of the moutain, was pretty fantastic. All the pictures can be viewed in the gallery. If I had a better camera, the pictures would’ve turned out even better, but all in all I’m pretty happy they way they turned out. Think I may print one out at 8×10 to hang up in the house. I’m looking for one more photo to join 2 other ones from the trip to Florida in the spring.
Saturday night we headed to Rocky Mountain Raceway Park to visit my cousin Nicole from Winnipeg as she Jamie were out here on a “business” trip to see the Calgary facilities. It was good to see some familiar faces in Calgary. It’s kind of weird seeing family in Calgary.
And of course Sunday was turkey day…I’ve got enough left over for a good solid 2 weeks of meals! Sweet no cooking for me!
