Added new page for Sitefinity

Over the last year or so at work, I’ve been using sitefinity to slowly build our internal websites. It’s a great product and with only a few minor issues to be worked out, I’m sure it’s going to get a little more mainstream in the near future. With the recent addition of a marketplace where the community can upload their own controls, it does nothing but help promote the product.

The 1st control I’ve uploaded is a simple recent blog comments list. Everything is css’ible (is that a word?) which will make it easier for other users to modify.

Check it out

Google Maps does a better job at transit times then CalgaryTransit.com

The other day, I happened to notice that goolge maps now has transit maps and times for Calgary. So you think, big deal right?

bus-stopsWell if you have ever had to go through the maze that is the Calgary Transit website to try and find what your next bus time is, I guarantee you’d be exstatic. Trying to find out what your next bus time is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well ok, it’s a little better then that, but if you ever went to their old site, let just say it was difficult.

Now that Google includes transit maps and times, I can look on a map to where my bus stop actually is, and what time it’s going to come next. See the little dots on the map in the blue lines. Those are bus stops. If I click on those little dots, I can find out what buses stop there and when they’re coming next.

How simple is that? Calgary Transit..take notice.

So next time, you find yourself asking when the next bus is actually going to come, try google maps. You might actually be surprised!

Email SPAM: I’ve reached another milestone

Spam May 2009Back in May of 2009 I posted on saying that my Gmail account had accumulated to over 1,000 spam emails a month!

Since then, I’m over 2,000 a month. Now remember, I don’t delete anything, and after 30 days, they automatically delete. I’m currently at 2,555 spam emails per month, and you know what? Not one has hit my inbox in like 6 months.

I’ll continue to put my email into everything…why? Because Gmail does an unbelievable job at taking it out. 95% of all emails are spam, if not one hits my inbox it doesn’t even bother me.

So spammers…email mattkiazyk@gmail.com – If you dare!

Random Vista French Characters

For those of you who are plagued by the random french characters in Vista, simply hold down Ctrl and Shift for a few seconds and they disappear. From searching around the internet it seems that it’s only effected us Canadians up here in the northern land.

Hope this helps somebody. It’ll help me next time I forget how to get rid of it.
